The challenge
Google Maps is an essential tool for millions of users worldwide, yet its user interface and information hierarchy present opportunities for improvement. My focus in this case study is the “Navigation” feature, aiming to answer the question: How might we navigate the world faster and easier with Google Maps?
Our solution
By analyzing the current UI and information hierarchy, I identified pain points and proposed a new design to streamline the navigation experience, making it more intuitive and efficient for users.

The Power of Focus on One Experience
This project taught me a valuable lesson about redesigning: it’s crucial to focus on one key experience and really dig into it. In the past, I’ve often tried to tackle multiple issues at once, even when they weren’t connected. This approach can backfire because fixing just one part might cause us to lose sight of how everything fits together. By taking a step back and looking at the entire user journey, I realized that addressing issues across different stages of the workflow is essential for improving the overall experience.
